DRIVE TRAIN REQUIREMENTS

  1. All kaskarre must have 4 wheels (maximum diameter: 300mm)
  2. Must be gravity powered only - no motors, engines, or sails
  3. Wood construction recommended (use screws and wood glue)
  4. Must meet all dimensional requirements (180cm wide × 365cm long × 215cm tall max)

STEERING SYSTEMS

  1. Simple Pivot Steering: Most common system with front axle rotating about a central pivot
  2. Four Bar Linkage: More complex (similar to automobile steering)
  3. Steering must accommodate sharp turns on the course
  4. Avoid designs that turn too sharply (can cause flipping)

BRAKING SYSTEMS

  1. Skid Pad on Wheels: Basic and effective (brake shoe rubs against wheels)
  2. Skid Pad on Ground: The pad contacts the ground directly, which is not recommended as it poses a risk of damaging the Marsh Street road surface.

  4. Anchor/Parachute: Novelty option only
  5. All kaskarre must have functional emergency braking systems

TEAM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Maximum 6 team members per entry (including driver)
